Angklung (Indonesia)

Angklung are another traditional Indonesian instrument that is made from bamboo, originating from West Java. Angklungare actually a group of various sized hand-held instruments made from bamboo. When the angklung is shaken is produces a chord of music. The size of the angklungdetermines the chord that it produces. Songs are played with one person standing up behind a group of hanging angklung or by a group of people holding one angklung and playing their chord at the appropriate time within the song - much like a group of people would play bells in the west.

Meriam Bambu / Bamboo Cannon (Indonesia)

Meriam bambu is one of Indonesian children's games. Cannons are made of bamboo strips with a length of 2-3 meters. Fuel used is kerosene. Bamboo cannon is usually made to celebrate the independence day or the month of ramadan (for Muslims). With very little capital, ordinary days become festive.

Tari bambu (Indonesia)

This traditional Maluku game is played along with the melody that bamboo stick create when being hit. With an accurate beat, the dancer can follow the melody and jump accordingly starting from a slow sway to a faster hop.

Gatrik (Indonesia)

Also known as the Tak Kadal, this traditional games uses 2 stick of bamboo which each team member will randomly hit. As a reward, the opposing team must carry a team member. Strength, energy and team cohesiveness are the main skills for this game.

Tarik Tambang (Indonesia)

A well known favorite tradition in the country, this game never fails to create hype on Independence Day. Played by 2 teams which struggle to win through a tug-of-war. The strongest team manages to pull the rape to the other side.
